This temple really was hit hard by acts of Christian vandalism, inside, and as you will see, outside

 

You can see that the faces here have all been chiseled away

 

Right down to the small, now all faceless, figures. These people spent a lot of time doing this to the entire building

 

The far side, and here, too, the stone tiles that formed the surrounding walkway are still in place

 

 

Another gate in the surrounding wall, and as you can see, much more excavations to be done for future archaeologists

 

 

All Egyptian temples have a sacred pool (or lake). This one, now dry, has palm trees growing in it.

 

Not exactly overrun with tourists either. The main temple and a smaller one near the main entrance
